The McCreesh kickoff fundraiser skate jam was a success, with lots of kids in attendance, and over $1,000 raised for the skatepark. Jesse Clayton and crew worked hard on building some temporary ramps for the local kids to skate until the new park is built. We skated with everyone on Saturday [...] James was ripping all day, consistently hitting all of his tricks and doing it in heat wave temperatures. Not to mention, broken board in pre-qualifiers, cracked deck in the qualifiers, and skated the cracked deck in the final jam to take 3rd place. It was sick. And after all that shredding and sweating, [...] I know none of us need a designated day for going skating, but maybe we need a day dedicated to launch ramp sessions. From what I hear, James was throwing down trick after trick after trick. I’m not surprised at all. This video doesn’t show everything, but you’ll get the idea. filmed by Chuck Farina [...] James is so good at front blunts that he can take both feet off the board midway through the trick (see 8th frame) and still stick it clean. Some time not long ago, it became acceptable to call shove-its “varials,” when in fact a varial is done by grabbing your board and spinning it by hand. I just can’t seem to get on board with varials and shove-its being labeled the same. My 80’s sensibilities just won’t allow it. [...] We are very pleased to announce that Totally teamrider James Pitonyak is now also skating for NJ Skateshop! Congrats James! When I was in high school, I frequented a skatepark in Pennsylvania called “Cheapskates.” I loved that park because under its roof you could witness some of the world’s best skateboarding any time of the year (Team Steam, Shut team, SEAN MILLER, the Lopez brothers, the Sigafoos twins, and the list goes on)…especially [...] While we’ve been getting hammered by snowfall over this last couple of weeks, I’ve heard a lot of people making all the common complaints – “I’m sick and tired of shoveling,” “my back is killing me,” “they plowed me in again,” “the neighbor’s kids are idiots,” etc. etc. Well, while most people are [...] |
