When I was in high school, I frequented a skatepark in Pennsylvania called “Cheapskates.” I loved that park because under its roof you could witness some of the world’s best skateboarding any time of the year (Team Steam, Shut team, SEAN MILLER, the Lopez brothers, the Sigafoos twins, and the list goes on)…especially during the cold winter months when it seemed like the only option for riding a skateboard in sub-zero temperatures with dirty mountains of snow covering most of the landscape was to take cover in a warm, dusty, and smelly Cheapskates. Cheapskates made stickers back then, and I believe the graphic on it was created by Ken or Jay Sigafoos (?). Anyway, the sticker said “I skated Cheapskates in the long cold winter of ‘88.” I feel like I remember them making another one which had a similar graphic, but said “I SURVIVED the long cold winter at Cheapskates.”
That was the 80’s. Sadly, Cheapskates is long gone, but skateboarders always find a way to survive the winters here on the east coast. For me, this year, I am happily surviving with some flannel, and regular trips to the Philly Warehouse. With a place like the warehouse, it’s almost not fair to call it survival. I’d say I am thriving.

Really feeling this VCC stuff!! Keep it coming!
Damn! That was cool.
Not many trick look better than a well-executed backside air.
The first ramp Ive ever skated was the micro at cheapskates. The vert ramp and bowl blew my mind. My head wouldve exploded though if Scott Baio and St. Patrick the guido were skating there! Fuck apostrophes!!!!!!
